After studying architecture at the University for the Creative Arts – Canterbury School of Architecture Emilios has been exploring the relationship between art and architecture. In 2017 he was selected in an international competition titled Second Nature part of the Paphos European Capital of Culture year were he realised a public art project in the Municipal park. In the same year he also collaborated with the Frankfurt MA Code to develop a set of lightweight sculptural objects to be used by the performers in various locations in the old town of Ktima.
Since 2014 he has been teaching at the Cyprus College of Art where he explores the studio environment in new surroundings in order to develop narratives by creating conditions for works that react to contexts other that the white space of the studio. His work is influenced by the uncertainty of the times that we are currently living in such as the environmental issues, political tensions, refugee crisis and the alienation of certain cultural differences. Within his painting Emilios explores these topics creating a visual narrative described as an ‘emotional landscape’.
